Post your fishing tackle!

We share our knives, our bikes, and firearms so why not share our fishing tackle!

I've managed to keep everything I own (cept fishing poles of course) down to one tackle box and a spool box. I've had this tackle box for....about....10 years? It's been a very long time, I can't remember.

Plano 737 and Berkley Trilene in the spool box.

the Galyan's belt towel reveals how old the box is :thumbup1: I love this tackle box because it carries everything I need. Even a 50lb digital scale....as if I catch 50lb fish regularly...

And I can't forget one of my favorite accessories. at one point I had this vest loaded down and I would throw it on and walk down to the river.

Now you must be thinking...where are his poles!? I'll snap a picture of those in the coming days. Stay tuned!

Until then show us what you got!

This is part of my collection of locally handmade fishing lures. These were very effective fish catchers but I don't use them anymore as I consider them folk art and don't want to lose them. These hang on the wall in a display case behind my favorite chair.

I wouldn't use them either. Those look amazing. very cool.

I'd probably have two tackle boxes If I never lost a lure.

Here is about half of my collection of hardbaits, spoons, spinners, etc currently collecting dust (I have been fly-fishing exclusively for about 5 years):

Half your collection.... very nice!

About half of what I have for non-fly-fishing lures and terminal tackle....I have a number of rods, and a few dozen reels (I collect Mitchell reels)....and then I have my fly-fishing rods, reels, vest, waders, boots, tools, and a couple of thousand flies.....and a truckload of fly-tying materials and tools.

Can't post pics of my fishing equipment, too computer illiterate to know how to post pics....but I can tell you about it.

I live on the prairies....about 90 kms from the Canadian Shield. My province maintains there are about 110,000 lakes in the province...yes...110,000....most are fly in....but a number easily accessible by car. One lake...is the 11th largest lake in the world...it's the remnants of the ancient Lake Agassiz, which was really a giant inland sea...thousands of years ago.
Lot's of rivers also.

I realize I am very fortunate to live where I do...fishing wise.

I have a Hardy fly fishing reel which I use primarily for Northern Pike. Use large wet flies...red and white....seems to attract them.

I also like to fish for Channel Catfish and use my Abu Garcia 6600 bait caster reel . Usually use pickerel rigs baited with dead minnows. Works well.

sounds like a great collection. I've never gotten in to fly fishing. I know it takes a lot of work, but is very rewarding and enjoyable. Also the places around here are not really fly fishing friendly.

Well, come spring, Manitoba is pretty much one big lake with a bunch of islands, lol. Spent about 18 months there in '79-80, but have not been back since (except to drive through or fly over).....probably should head out there before long to chase some fish.

well here are my rod and reels. It was pretty chilly outside today so I took a quick photo.

Everything is pretty inexpensive but gets the job done. Shakespeare and Zebco. a few catfish poles and reels as well. I'm going to restring the reels soon.

You must of have been one of those guys who always needed a cart when you hit the Bass Pro Shops. I wish my collection was that large and organized.

You ever think about selling?

I stick to the saltwater flats and occasionally use a fly rod for trout when I visit the mountains.

You know, it was a gradual thing....1-4 items a week, occasionally a basket's worth when there was a sale...bought a couple of lots of 4-6 crankbaits off eBay, but after a few years, you find yourself with a lot of tackle. My fiance has suggested that I sell, but I am not sure that I really want to let it all go yet.

I understand. I have several reels that I don't use but I just can't let them go. As far as tackle, I have to go light. I either wade or fish from a kayak. Too much tackle gets in the way.

Same here....now that I fly fish exclusively, I tend to pack a lot lighter and hike further....fortunately, a box crammed with flies takes up the same room and less weight than just 4 crankbaits.

You may want to try a fishing belt. This one is a little bit bigger than I wanted. It has three pockets and plenty of storage. When you unzip the front pocket, which is the smallest, it has rubber plate that is designed to hold flies.

It also has a strap which allows you to wear the belt around your chest if you decide to wade in deeper waters. A handy little item. I love this one but if I had the chance to buy it again, I would buy a smaller one.

YES! I want to try kayak fishing. looks so fun. I'm a little worried I'd hook in to a big one and tip the kayak though....

Nice set-up Gunslinger.

Toothpick - you hit on the fabled "Sarasota Sleigh Ride". I believe that the story was that a kayak fisherman hooked into a huge Tarpon in St. Pete and it dragged him all the way to Sarasota.

In kayak fishing, you should keep a bright colored float on the end of your anchor rope. That way when you do hook into a big one, you just unwrap/untie your anchor and allow the fish to move the boat. When you land or lose the fish, you can look back and see your float and retrieve the anchor. Here is my rig:

I have actually gone larger, with a Gore Range Tech vest.....but outside of my hat, waders, boots, and rod/reel, it is all I take, so it needs to hold a few items. I am looking for something even lighter, as I overheat quickly in warm weather, so I am looking at lightweight chest tech packs for hot days.....convertible waders are great, too....plus I have some new wet-wading shoes to break in this summer.
