What's new

Post your Favourite 5 soaps and let your fellow B&Bers recommend another soap for you to try!

You should try a Southern Witchcrafts soap. Necromantic or Pomona would probably work for you - they're on the sweeter/fruity side of things.
+1 Their soaps great performers and I've never smelled more unique shaving soaps! I highly recommend getting their sampler pack so you can try them all.

In terms of my favorite soap bases:
B&M Soft heart
Saponificio Varesino
Ethos
Lothar
Seaforth

In terms of my favorite scented soaps:
Paolo Barrasso Blu
I Coloniali
Santa Maria Novella
WK Entropy Man
SV Felce Aromatica
Extro Arzachena

My favorites are: Canada Shaving Soap, Tabac (haven't tried the new formula), Stirling Varen, Speick stick, and Saponificio Varesino Tundra Artica.

1 MdC Fougere
2 Mike's Natural Peppermint & Rosemary
3 Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
4 Stirling Deep Blue Sea
5 Speick Stick

I've only tried MdC Fougere so far. I really like the subtle fragrance and the way the soap quickly rinses away with no residue on the skin or the equipment. I'm very curious about Saponificio Varesino and also Pre De Provence.

Here are my 5 randomized soap entries:

* Pinnacle Grooming Hiro (Japanese Plum)
* T&H Sandalwood (1805)
* B&M Leviathan (Full Measure, Vespers, Nordost, Taiga, Paganini, Passiflora)
* MdC Rose (Agrumes, Vetiver, Original)
* Tabac Original

Items in parenthesis are those I've sampled which I do like as well, but either do not have or fall outside the range of my top shelf.

Looking for something masculine in aroma with a great post-shave, but not smoky or leathery. Maybe something heavier than a Spring scent, think for an evening shave before heading out to dinner or am shave before venturing onto the city trains.

I was thinking maybe Pinnacle's Grenade or Once Upon a Time...

I'm just narrowing down a list of soaps to get. I've not had much luck in the past, hard soaps don't work so well for me. Currently I'm using Proraso Green, and Cremo. I don't buy a lot of soap in advance, just as it gets used up. I'm finding a dab of Cremo in the Proraso is what is working best. My technique sucks, but is improving. So... replying because, Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli is on my short list. (the others are Haslinger Schafmilch, Sterling's Sheep). Can you give me an idea of how strong Y/R/P is, and your impression of the scent? I'm leaning towards dropping the Sheep. Y/R/P is more expensive, but I get the feeling that the scent and feel would be a bit more luxurious.

I'm soap poor by B&B standards. I only have 4... so they have to be my top 4. I'll list them in the order I bought them.
