The bigger one just before this, got away as I was trying to grab him.

I wasn't expecting to be targetting Channel Catfish, but the Carolina Rig for goldeye and smaller cats, was getting washed away in the current. I was using light tackle (12lb rod and 10lb test), no net.

Was super fun as both ran the drag on full (Penn Battle II 2000, braid) and each gave a 5-10min fight.

Released immediately.

Great pics - thanks for sharing @La Malice and @brucered

I'm still waiting to get out on the water - may be happening in a few days as kelp paddies are starting to be reported north of Baja, holding Mahi !!

Meanwhile, my boat buddy is wrapping a trip in the other B.C. with a solid haul of Vermillion and beast-mode Lingcods

Bit of a clone-fest, but light line fishing is always a fun time !
This is a little known pond on one of the bases that I have always wanted to throw a line into. Not the most convenient body to get to, but if things go as planned will be taking my youngest there for the AM bite on Saturday. She's always up for shore-pounding the bass and sunfish...

Given the unfortunate sinking of one of our local charter vessels at Cortes Bank, doubtful that my girls will want to go yellowtail fishing at "The Islands" anytime soon - now a wide open Mahi bite - that's a discussion for another day...
