This isn't a very good photo, but I'm going to tell the story
of how it was in those days.
This from the last legal blind snatching season in New York.
Blind snatching is casting a weighted treble hook and yanking
until you hit a fish.
This was taken from the South Sandy Creek.
It was Chinook or King Salmon.
They run at night and in the daytime they hold in holes
just swimming in circles.
I had 30# test and I had her on line for 15 minutes.
She jumped up twice. I was standing in the creek when I caught her.
The picture was taken at cleaning station.
The locals would fillet your fish for a nominal fee
or do it for the eggs instead if you had a gravid female.
I had a 38" long gravid female and I wanted to pay the fee
and keep the eggs, but the guy was almost crying,
so I agreed to have it filleted for half the eggs.

A day trip to Crane Prairie Resevoir in Oregon for some fly fishing. My buddy and I managed to catch a number of very nice Rainbows before being blown off the water. Then we finished up with a few nice fish in the crystal clear, spring fed, Fall River.View attachment 1125919View attachment 1125921View attachment 1125922

Lovely fish!

Both spots are fantastic, but Crane is my go-to when it comes to fat Bow's. Just fished Diamond from the shore and feel it could rival Crane.

Central Oregon is just such a horrible place for a fisherman to live ;->
