Poky Manchurian

In a trade exchange I got a 23mm Frank Shaving Manchurian but I am just unable to use it given how prickly and poky it feels on skin.
I don't have particularly sensitive skin but this Manchurian has issues. Given a Manchirian has inherently 'stout' hair compared to a silvertip, this brush had the tips clipped. The combined fact of clipped tips and stout hair makes this one hell of uncomfortable brush to use. I can acutely feel the prickly needle points. Think of a very cheap, floppy 'best badger' brush but with better backbone. That's how I feel this knot on face lathering.
Any ideas if the poky tips can be tamed? I am thinking of using automotive grade grit paper over which I can drag the wet tips and hope it will induce a wear and thinning effect.
Maybe some cheap chemical treatment on tips? Shave a brick?

So called Manchurian is chemically treated pure and 2 band badger hairs to achieve the desired look. They are supposed to be soft thou.
