A question about cutting plug pipe tobaccos. Is it better to only cut what you need now, or cut the whole plug and seal it up? Many of the tins I have are flakes, so got me to wondering.

I always cut what I need, some times just a bowl, some times a little more for the day. I like leaving in plug form for storage.

I like to think that it ages better in plug form, since only the surface of the plug is exposed to air/elements and the internal leaf is allowed to age unmolested.

There is something satisfying about slicing off a flake to enjoy now. I don't want to deny myself that pleasure everytime I want to smoke that particular blend. It is almost ritualistic in a weird, sick, demented kind of way!
