Plug cutter restore

So I found this for a reasonable price
Cutter 5.jpg

A weekend in the shop, a sandblaster and some paint. A little polishing on the blade and a few passes across a powered water stone. A hunk of Mesquite to add some mass & stability. If I stumble across brass rivets, I'll replace the silver hardware.

Beautiful work. Love seeing restores on old equipment like this. They truly do not make them like they used to.

How it taking an edge?
Really soft. Someone used a grinder on one side, looked like a rasp on the other. Using a wet stone (Tormek) it straightened up fairly well, but is so soft any pressure curls the edge. Probably replace the blade at some point, but works well on Plum Pudding.

Very nice job and save from an early death.
Most older things just need a little love to live forever and be useful.
I love saving items like this.
Well done.

Looks like a pretty straight forward blade to get.
