Please Help Identify - bad auction

I won an auction for the first razor in the lined case with the blade holder. What I got was the second razor. The razor I got looks to be in better shape but it is the principle. Also, I'd like to know what I actually got. It looks kind of like an Early Tech but it doesn't have triangular holes plus it does say that it is Made in England.

Thanks for any help!

You indeed got a British fat handled Tech. The case looks to be a mismatch tho. <--- I stand corrected.

Second one looks to be a 1938-1945 Tech. The one below is Made in USA.

And here's Made in England 1948 Tech.

This looks more like mine except the Made In England on mine is on the lower right instead of upper part of the bed. I wonder if that differentiation helps to date it better?

Thanks, everyone, for your immediate replies! How much do you think this one is worth?

The mystery deepens...what I didn't show a picture of was the top of the head that has Gillette on it which makes it look more like a 1953 Tech, especially with the Made in England mark being in the right place on the bed. But then the handle and case don't match the top...

Me personally, I'd send it back and tell the seller you want a refund on the return postage too. Then ask the seller to send you the first razor, which is this one, a 1930s open comb NEW:

Thanks! That's what I thought I was going to get...not quite so nice looking, but that's the razor, case, and blade holder that I though was going to be mine!

I just like the shave of the open comb NEWs. And they make nice collector's pieces too as long as no teeth are missing and the handle isn't split like the Grand Canyon.

I received the razor I was originally supposed to get today. The buyer paid for the return shipping on the other and gave me a partial refund so it all worked out. I'm looking forward to getting this one cleaned up!

Good to hear! Clean it up and post pictures! :thumbup1:

I did the scrubbing bubbles, boiling, and scrubbing some more routine. Then I gave the handle a quick dip in Tarn-X and scrubbed off the remaining black spots (ink of some sort?) with a magic eraser.

I've shaved two days in a row now with a Gillette Blue blade and I'm loving it. I will probably try it tomorrow with a Feather blade and see how it goes.

This is a great razor and I really like how it looks now that it is all cleaned up!

Wow! That cleaned up great. I've passed on quite a few inexpensive razors that I've seen at flea markets. Those pictures are making me consider picking one up to see if I can get similar results.
