Pivot Hinge Tightening

Girls call me Makaluod
I would like to slightly tighten the pivot pin arrangement on some of my SR's. Previously I would hold the SR on an anvil and lightly tap the end of the pivot pin with a very light hammer until I reached by desired tightness. Is this the best way?

4 oz ball peen hammer and an anvil works well for me too.
I have a pretty large anvil, it's like 10-15 lbs or something, so totally overkill, got it for like 5 bucks, so I can't complain.

I do it the same way. I just use a small ballpeen hammer and the side of the head of another hammer as the anvil. Just make sure the pivot pin is flat again the anvil and make sure that you are only tapping the pin.

If you are repinning or if the above method isn't working...don't start hitting the pin harder.:) Take a file and remove a little metal from the end of the pin and then re-peen. The metal in the pin is soft so a light tap with deform it and harder tapping will only serve to bend the pin if it happens to be too long. There is only a little compressing that you can be before the pin starts to bend.
