When did they start using the "fake" pins on razors?

Would this be the imitation peened pin look found on the head of many pins on the front scale?

Might be better stated as when did they stop peening both ends of the pin?

Exactly.

When did this become the norm even on high end razors.

I can't answer but it's been on every new razor I bought, which isn't all that many.
Even my rather pricey TI has them.

I take it that's what you mean?

Love the TI Leigh. I've seen them on hellies too amongst others and they are horrible! Bought some scales from invisible edge and they come with them - they're like a nail when you get them, just need peening on one side and never look right - I didn't use them after the first attempt

I don't like the look, much easier for manufacturers to use, only have to peen one side, but when did this start.

quite a while back. i seen these pins on razors as far back as 4-6 years or maybe farther. memory is not what it used to be.

My guess is mid nineties or further back for Dovo. Must be an old hand here who knows.
