Pinaud Clubman Shaving Cream (is back!

I got an email from Corrado Cutlery (I'm on their email list), who handles sales of Pinaud products. I guess there was a Pinaud Clubman Shaving Cream?? It's back now after production stopped 8 years ago. I know it is a canned cream, but heck, it's Pinaud Clubman!

Has anyone used it before it was previously discontinued? I'm curious if it's any good, but more importantly, does it smell like their Clubman AS splash?

Check out their website page for it here: http://www.corradocutlery.com/clubman-shave-cream.html

I'll cut and paste the email I got from them too, for good measure:

As Gordon Gekko would say "Mixed Emotions like Larry Wildman driving off of a cliff......in my Maserati" Pinaud Clubman nice, more canned goo. Yuck.

Wow!

I don't know if I'm ready to give up my brush and soaps anymore, but I have posted before how I thought this was, hands-down, the finest goo in a can ever devised by man. When I was in the Air Force years ago, I used to get this a case at a time, since online shopping was not available at the time. When I was going to the Philippines, Japan, Korea, and Germany, I wanted my Clubman. I used this for years.

I am not suggesting this is as good as D.R. Harris or Cella by any means, but I am curious to see what people think of it. Tabac is going to trump any canned goo, IMO, but I think this (if it is true to the old formula) was the undisputed king of canned shave creams.

Looks like they brought back a product that had been discontinued for many years. This must have been the result of one of two things - or a combination of both.

1) Demand from customers to start producing this again
2) The general resurgence in wet shaving

Either way, I think if there is a way to contact the manufacturer and request a cream or a soap, it may be worth a shot.

I wonder why they don't come out with a cream for those of us who don't like canned creams. Or even a soap.

If Pinaud made a cream or soap and it was as reasonably priced as their other goods, boy they'd have a hit on their hands. They should really consider making Elixir shampoo again. James Bond is more popular than ever, and there are plenty of people who want to shampoo like him.

I just contacted them on their clubman website through email and asked if they will consider coming out with a traditional shave cream or shave soap. I urge others to go there and ask as well!
