Pimp My Slant

So I've had one of the Vintage Merkur Slants from chessman for about a year now. I've never really liked the "pencil thin" handle compared to the modern Merkur HD slant or the vintage Hoffritz. So yesterday my kid comes home with a rubber grip for her pencil and I got to thinking...why not? Here's what it looks like now. What do you think?

I shaved with it this morning and it's a great grip! It's diameter is just a millimeter MORE than an HD slant! Whooo! I think I have a new favorite razor.

I've used one of those on an Ever-Ready with the smooth hexagonal handle. Some of the old handles are really slippery when wet.

Glad to hear it works for you!
I think that color combo first thing in the morning would make my eyes bleed tho...

Is this a thread to show off out tricked out slants?
If so here's 1 of mine.

Your local dollar store probably has them, or the evil that is wal-mart. I'd be willing to bet you could find tham at Staples, Office Depot or Officemax as well.

I use these on anything with a slim or non-knurled handle. I have slight nerve damage in my hand so it helps to keep a grip on the razor an I can actually feel the tackiness of the grip. 2 tips I would offer are as follows:
If the grip gets smooth and slippery after use, a little rubbing alcohol on a rag will bring back the tackiness.
Also if you have a hard time getting the grip on the razor, spritz a bit of hair spray (not gel) into the grip and it will slide right on. As a bonus, when the hair spray dries the grip wont slip at all.

Thanks for the tips. I'll admit I had a devil of a time trying to get that thing to slide on there.

I'd like to find a better color but this one sure is...:yikes:

Those are some nice handles. I read the thread title and was expecting to see some gaudy thing covered in rhinestones. :biggrin1:
