Pils Razor compared to Merkur V.I.S.I.O.N

Hi!

I recently saw this thread about Pills razor and now im thinking of getting one and selling my every other razor :p (I know im little bit crazy).

Do anyone of you own both of these razors? Pils looks kind of big razor, but how big is it compared to V.I.S.I.O.N?

I hope its not the same size as Merkur seems to be like a giant.

Hope someone could throw comparsion picture!

Thanks!

I don't think that is crazy at all. I think many of us did the same thing, even if we won't admit to selling off half out razors. The Pils should be smaller than the Vision, then again I almost think anything is smaller than the Vision.

This Merkur Vision is definitely bigger than PILs razor. I don't own a Vision but I have handled them. They are large shaving tools and require some additional handling during a shavas they can be tricky to maneuver in difficult to reach areas.

I tried the Vision and had a difficult time with it. I could not get a good shave by the mustache and chin areas because of its size.

Big difference is the Vision is adjustable and the Pils is not. The Pils is smooth and a delight to hold especially the satin stainless.Hard to compare but having both I hardly ever use the Vision and the Pils and the new Feather are sweet. If you didn,t want to go that high get a Merkur Progress long handle . These are all shaving machines and do a fine job!!!

I own a Futur and a Vision and must say I'm leaning towards the Pils myself, just for the exclusiveness of it. I would say the Vision is slightly more aggressive than the Futur, but still highly maneuverable. I feel the Merkurs to be very nice, but I would like one in stainless steel.

Until then, I'll dream of the Pils.

The Pils is a bit smaller and lighter than the futur and vision judging by the specs and vids.

I bought a vision and a cobra classic at $120 each but have a hard time with the $240 ($320 for the gold) price tag on the Pils. I like the look of it but for me that's too much coin for a fixed head safety razor.

If I sprang for one I'd still be loading it up with the 15 cent blades I'm using now. That's kind of like buying a ferrari and dropping a 4 cylinder Kia engine in it :biggrin1:

I owned the vision and now own the Pils and have also owned the Feather AS and Futur . They are all totally different.
The vision was nice except for the head near the nose , however I did like the flexibility of the adjustable dial.
The Pils is also nice but for the money and the quality control problems( slight surface rust) If I had to do it again i would pass.
The Feather was extremely smooth but not as aggressive as I prefer
I have the Cobra Classic and this is by far the most aggressive razor Ive ever owned.
