If you were to make this into a thread, I would subscribe.

I also wanted to wish all of you a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
You're going to rock the heck out of it!
Thank you very much for the encouragement, the well wishes, and the Arko!

Folks can blame you for my addiction! I'm down to 1 stick.... Panic has not yet set in!

I'm actually thinking of sketching a shave set up, maybe from a photo, then sketching it and filling it in with watercolor.

I need to stop thinking and start doing! But I doubt pics of my progress would make for an interesting thread my friend.....no one wants to watch paint dry!

Sometimes I crack myself up, lol.

I woke up this morning at 0400 after a 16 hour work day yesterday. I managed to get a WAS without cutting myself and took a very long and very hot shower to wake up.
The jar of MdC is getting bigger or the amount in it is becoming less. No photos yet. Maybe soon.

Happy New Year’s to y’all!!
I received my PHD 34 years ago from the school of hard knocks and have kept those hard earned skills well honed.
Unfortunately that degree has nothing to do with soap and so in scientifically I can only say that it seems to me that the middle of the soap is not nearly as dry as the soap at the top.
Maybe that’s why it seems to be getting used up faster.
I do know for a fact however that I will not lose sleep thinking/worrying/puzzling out this wonderment.
In fact this is as much thought as it gets from me.

Those were the hardest courses I ever attended and the continuing education classes don’t get any easier!!

All these young kids at work get to talking about their college degrees and advanced degrees and it’s hilarious to me.
Some will be my bosses before I retire and some won’t make the cut.
They inevitably ask if I have a degree and I always tell them I have a PHD. They are in awe. Hilarious.
I’ll leave them hanging but will eventually tell them that my PHD is from the school of hard knocks (but then I must explain that) or that I have a Purely High School Diploma (PHD).

As my dad used to say:

There ain't nothing worse than a college educated idiot!

Y’all are funny!!
I do believe education is extremely important to succeed in life.
But ya gotta have some common sense to compliment it!!

I didn't go to kollege till I felt called to be a nurse at 39. Didn't get out til I was 47.

I think education is EVERYTHING. But it takes many forms.

My dad was one of, if not the best, self educated people I ever knew, and quit skool after 7th grade. All of it in one room skool houses.

I had a report to do on the libraries of Alexandria once. He made me read it to him. He scoffed at it, the ole fart! Started rattling off the top of his head all the stuff I should have put in the report. I went back to my research. HE WAS AS SMART AS THE BOOKS! I asked him how he knew so much. He said that from the time he was 5 until he was 13 he heard the lesson of all the kids worth of 12 grades! All those kids learned all the time! And he always said one ear was longer, as that was the ear the teacher always grabbed to make him behave!

I guess she wasn't all that concerned over his self esteem!

I miss him every stinkin' day. So all you folks blessed enough to still have a dad: freak him out, and flat out kiss him on the cheek as you hug him.

Now y'all got me tearing up. There goes my macho image you losers!

My parents have GED’s and got those while serving in the Army. My brother and I graduated from High School. He’s retired Army. I have 33 years in Law Enforcement. His oldest is finishing a PHD. My oldest went to boarding school in New Hampshire and then NYU and is in graduate school. Not too bad for a family that started with only a one holer outhouse.
I kiss my parents every single time I see them and talk with them pretty much every single day of the year. They are 82 and 80.

It might be easier not to think of them as "Classes" but as "Character Building Exercises", or so I heard lol.

Its sure a different world. At the General Dynamics plant here in town you need to have a University degree just to get a spot on the assembly line.

I understood when I was very young that with age comes wisdom. I've always listened to those older than myself intently. They knew more than I did because they'd been there, done that and lived through it.

I wish I had talked to some a whole lot more than I did. My fathers brother was over last month, he's 75 now and he asked about a friend of my fathers we hunted with years ago. I hadnt talked to him for 20 years or more so I looked online and found he had died in 2015. I knew he served in the Korean War but I had only heard him mention the war once and only very briefly about his Bren gun because the rifle I was carrying at the time had a bipod.

It also said in his obituary that he was in Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry and that he served in the battle of Kapyong. He was a war hero and very few even knew. My father knew him before the war and if he knew, he never said anything.

I really wish I had talked to him more. Do like Dave @FarmerTan says and spend some time with those older than yourself. You might be surprised just how much you could learn.
