Yessir!!

I have found it to be easier to work with what experienced shooters already know than trying to get them to “re-learn” something.

"Its always easier to learn from the mistakes of others than making your own". Some advice my father gave me when I was very young haha.

I thought you might appreciate the video. Its made me think and I'll try it the next time I shoulder a rifle.

A friend of mine shoots a Remington 700 .338 Ultra Mag so he's use to heavy fast recoil and he wanted to try it. I showed him how to hold it, pull it as tight into your shoulder as you can and roll with it. Like Marty said, its not easy getting someone to relearn something. He thought it wouldnt be much worse than his Remington, he was wrong. That was 1996 I think. The cut he got was a lot worse than the one above and he still has the scar through his eyebrow.

I thought he might have broken the scope lol.

No it wouldnt work with open sights. I can see holding the forearm in the fist like she does, but watch when she switches to the shotgun. Her left arm is locked straight. No bend at the elbow and she leans into the recoil pretty well. With a straight locked arm like that and holding the forearm in a fist like grip, that forces the recoil straight back to be absorbed by the entire body.

I was never taught that either and have always shot offhand with a relaxed left arm and just rolling with the recoil, but I'm seeing advantages to what shes doing. I'd guess its natural for her too. Being young, light and small framed, she's devised her own way of absorbing the recoil the best she can.
I've seen a few three-gun videos now where the left arm is locked straight. It seems to be getting more common.

I guess you can't teach and old dog new tricks, though, 'cause I sure can't shoot an AR like that... in two ways; she's a much better shot than I am, and I could never grip it like that.

I always hold the forearm in my left hand gripping it tightly, bend my left elbow and push away from me with my left arm while pulling back to my shoulder with my right hand. It would be weird for me to have my arm straight, but I think my arms are longer than a 13 year olds. That might be even more challenging with a short barreled carbine lol. :tongue_sm

Me, too. That's how I learned, and since it was such a long time ago, I doubt I could ever change.

I had a similar cut when I was young, but square between my eyes. My dad would check to make sure I was ready before I fired. Once I figured I knew what I was doing. I figured wrong. :) It was when I was in second grade or before, because I remember how mad my mom was at him, so they were still together. It was a 7mm Mag.

Unacceptably Lasering Chicken Giblets?
So I pulled out my box of unopened jars of MdC. Only 1 has had the paper ripped off and the box opened. It is a jar of unscented.
The other jars are all wrapped in white paper and are in the box exactly as they arrived. I haven’t opened them.
I’ll let the winner decide if he wants a particular scent, take the unscented, or take a chance on a surprise.

Hmm!

Am I preparing for a soon to be ending of this PIF?
Or just getting y’all all worked up and thinking??
