Picture of shaving stuff I got from Turkey

My friend came from Turkey and gave me some random stuff, not that I have asked for it, I just said, buy some stuff, surprise me.

He got me this:

I am a newbie at this. Can anyone tell me if this stuff is any good or worth trying? Maybe someone is interested in some of this stuff? I am anxious to see your reactions.

The derby is a good noob blade, but they can be inconsistent as far as sharpness/smoothness, etc.

The derby cream is a solid (and inexpensive) performer, but smells very much like furniture polish. I happen to like the scent, but others, not so much.

Arko is well liked around here by some, but the smell can be something else.

Nice haul.

Derby blades i do quite like and seem to get good shaves and a good run on the blades, the cream i had free and thought that was also quite good, i have got a tube of arko but as yet have not opened it, what razors are they?

The Arko shave stick is a great performer, but the scent, for most guys, is a like it or hate it sort of thing. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about the scent, but it's a great shave soap. It produces lots of lather easily and it's very lubricating and cushioning.

Thats great stuff. All you need to start really, from razors to brush to blades. I think I have seen that brush on the website of the Turkish importer , Tulumba.

To make the Arko work well ,take a veggie grater and grate the stick into a shaving mug , then wet the top to smooth it off. I have found I like the Arko as a mug soap. This works well if you have two sticks.

Derby is okay cream but to supe it up ,make a batch of cream for shaving and then load your brush with Arko soap , then load your brush with your cream. You are combining the soap and cream together in whats called a superlather, Mantic59 on you tube has a great video showing how to make.

You have a great friend , I need friends like that.:001_smile

Beware, according to the information i have there are lots of RAPIRA 10pack blades counterfeits, made in China and of bad quality! The real ones are made using Swedesh steel.

How can you distinguish counterfeits from genuine ones???

OK,the writings on the packing are uneven, especially 10 and лезвия;the colors of wrapping are dull;the blade is packaged in paraffin-like waxed paper not like tissue paper;the writing on a blade is not contrast and clear; the package is covered not with cellophane, but with a shrink film;if you bend the blade between your fingers, it would burst or never take its flat form again as for the real blade it will break only if crumpled 2 times like a morning paper.
