What's new

Picture of possible new product - opinions sought!

We are hard at work expanding our popular line of lather bowls. In the past two months we have released a Polished copper version, Traveler which is compact for trips, and two ceramic lather bowls - Gunmetal and Cobalt. And now we may have one in...

Solid brass!

The one in the background is more highly polished and the one in front intentionally duller. What about the copper compass rose - is the contrast appealing? Or would it be better to also be brass?

Would you buy one? Pricing still needs to be sorted out but possibly around $78.00.

Check back in a few days for better pictures. For now this is all I have.

I like the duller better. The shiny is a bit much. The medallion is okay. It may be just this instance but there appear to be issues with damaging the bowl in trying to put the medallion in. Sort of like what it would look like if I tried to get it out using a screw driver.

I have the copper bowl which I love and use for every shave except when I use a stick and face lather. I’m not a bowl collector so I wouldn’t buy one until I lose the one I have, but then I think I might select this one.

There is no need to ask me, now, is there? If you offered the polished brass, I'd have one on order immediately.... As you know, I polished my heavy weight copper bowl and it came out brilliantly. I have it sitting beside my chair on an end table in our TV room... and the Aquamarine and Obsidian bowls are also in the TV room as accent pieces.

What about bronze, while you are at it? <eg>

Two tone is looking good, undecided about the two polishing levels.

They will tarnish anyway so it would be interesting to see how the tone of the brass and cooper develops over time.

Having a ceramic and a copper one already I wouldn’t jump for a third but giving a first time buyer more variety is great!

I’ve lathered in a coffee mug or a discarded yogurt container for 51 years. I never knew there were “scuttles” or specialized bowls until I found B&B. Unnecessary and frivolous, IMHO.

I like the duller finish better. The copper medallion provides a nice contrast.

I bought the copper bowl, which I use use for every shave except when traveling, back when you only had the 2 non-ceramic bowls. I’m not a bowl collector so I wouldn’t buy one until/unless I lose the one I have.

If I were shopping for a new bowl today, my order of preference would probably be:

*
Dull brass/copper medallion
Heavyweight copper
Copper traveler

*Mind you, a couple of years ago you floated the idea of a custom obsidian bowl.
That would go to the head of the list if I were shopping today.

I prefer the duller finish. Also, the compass rose button is both useful and attractive, without screaming "logo". I say, tasteful.

I just bought a Traveler, it is the perfect every day size for the way I lather and use a bowl. On cold days I set it in some hot water in my CC heavyweight bowl - no hassle, unbreakable pseudo-scuttle.

I think that either version is pretty darn nice. I'd buy one. I'm definitely in if you ever come up with one in German Silver.
