We are always trying to push the envelope here at Seraphim Laboratories Amalgamated Products Inc.
And not to be left behind in the wake of the unveiling of Nanocloth, we have upped the ante...yes that’s right…
PicoPaper!
Well, bear with me my fine Feathered friends.
Here’s an overview of the metric prefixes for small stuff:
Development was long and hard here at the lab....
Here’s a peek at the prototypes:
Sure, it looks like a stack of paper from the recyle bin near the copy machine, but it is really high tech engineered edge refinement uberMcmubletech! Available through my website for $39.99 for a pack of 10.
To better compare to the images shown in the nanocloth video, I switched from my 10x objective to a 6.5x so you can see the whole bevel.
Let’s take a look, shall we?
First we have a previously honed razor that I took back to the films for this demonstration.
Here’s the edge at lower mag after 6um lapping film on a single sheet of PicoPaper:
And then I whizbangulate it onto the 3um lapping film on PicoPaper:
And then it gets zapperfied on 1um film with PicoPaper.
Hey, it’s looking pretty good…but PicoPaper doesn’t stop there! Oh no.
This is what you pay the big bucks for, this is where we really start pushing the boundaries…..if one sheet of PicoPaper gives a nice edge…what about using two?
Oh my!
All scratches have been mantangulbated(TM) into oblivion.
Here is the PicoPaper and the 1um lapping film setup (that has been used on 20+ razors, it’s pretty beat up), along with the razor.....but the other secret is the lubricant used with the PicoPaper.
We here at the lab like to call it:
Developed
Innovation
Straight
Honing
Super
Overpriced
Advanced
Product
(Also available on my site for $59.99, but a little goes a long way, folks!)
Then I got super crazy and stacked three sheets of PicoPaper under the lapping film!
At that point the doctor said I better get back on my medication before I hurt myself…
But I did manage to snap a couple of images of the edges at my usual 10x (what I normally refer to as 400X) objective lens, since you really can’t see a lot of what is going on at the very edge with the lower mag:
1um film with 2 PicoPapers underneath at 400Xsae edge as shown above, but with higher mag)
1um film with 3 PicoPapers underneath:
So, there you have it.
No need for UberGrits, just get yourself some PicoPaper and 1um lapping film.
