well, here is the little story of why i was out shopping. today is my first day back at work from a 4 month furlough. i was on active duty for 4 months so i put in for a furlough to fill the time. my boss put me back on the night shift because we have two younger kids that are kinda worthless. boss (SGM) said he didnt like that it was just 2 specialists working alone at night and i guess they had been messing up. so an NCO had to be put on the night shift and since i was just coming back i get to take the spot. i used to be night shift so i didnt care too much.
i get off work at 7 am. i wanted to read a little bit before bed so it was 8 am when i finally went to sleep. the barracks we sleep in are crap. old WWII barracks that they "fixed" up. its freakin cold cuz the heater doesnt work well, so im trying to keep warm which isnt easy. i wont go all the way into the story but it started at 1045 when my grandma called me. i didnt answer so she called my wife who then called me because my grandama called her. between 10:45 and 12:30 i had recieved 5 phone calls. grandma, wife, 1SG at my unit, a SPC from my unit aksing about lodging, and a wrong number. after the last call i just decided to go into town cuz i wasnt getting any sleep. i had to go to the post office anyway and send a few things to my buddy who is deployed anyway. after that i had a few hours to kill so i did what i know i would have fun doing, i hit up the antique stores.
i picked up the wade and butcher for 24 and i also bought a 10 pack of gillette blades from the early 1900's, the green blade box, full and NOS for 16. i didnt get any sleep but i got cool stuff so i think it made up for it lol the W&B has hone wear but its been used for a while so its not like it surprises me. who ever had it before took good care of it.
