Picked this up today. Too cheap to resist

I can barely make out the engraving. But it is a Sheffield. This will be my first restoration. I've already got it apart and have started sanding the blade. I'm going to make custom scales out of mahogany as well. Idk how well it will shave in the end. But it will be pretty.

That should turn out OK, most of the pitting is away from the edge.

For iffy blades, I like to set a bevel before I get too involved just to make sure the metal is good.

+1 I normally do that for most blades and gold dollars... Tho my I've been forgetting that step lately
