From a Balloon Rally in Prosser, WA 11 years ago.

We got up early having made egg and cheese sandwiches the night before and packed a cooler and the camera bag. Arrived for the set up and launch of the balloons with my oldest son, wife, and youngest son who was an infant. Moved to a spot overlooking the Yakima River and was lucky enough to get this shot.

this sunday morning, accuweather had forecast 60% chance of rain.
put the raincap on the camera, fortunately nada, but a bit of the raincap got caught in the edge of the frame!

Result of heavy erosion due to poor soil practices of civil war era cotton plantations, according to Ga State park literature.

Kudzu was planted in the 1940's to try and control; cure might be worse than the illness!

I know, I know. It’s that same old heron. He seems to have staked out the dam as his own turf.
It’s just great to be seeing great blue herons in the middle of a major N American city.
