Nice picture of the Brockville Ontario rail tunnel that gave access to the small MFG's along the ST Lawrence river of that time Era. I was Born in Brockville, I hope you had a great trip there and went on a boat cruise to the thousand islands in the Saint Lawrence river. Thanks for the memories!:001_rolle Pearl street sign gave me the clue:detective:!

From the cathedral there is a narrow path between houses that ends at the riverside.
I recommend you try it, if you get to Porto.

all super!

especially enjoyed seeing the Ben & Jerry's sign along the riverfront!

Thank you :001_smile

Yeah, the Ben & Jerry's makes it real authentic :biggrin1:
I have tried B&J's once, and I will leave it at that.

More from Porto:
I love the tiles, and all the old buildings they have so many details

And the (to me) fun side of the Douro river; Ribeira de Gaia, this is where all the port wine houses are situated :001_smile
There is a cable car from the top of Gaia direct down to the port wine district/river side, it gives a marvellous view over Porto, Gaia and the river.

Great shots gents!

Here's part of this year's 7th annual sculpture tour. This life sized chrome rhino is made of Harley Davidson exhaust pipes an mufflers, by an artist from Minnesota.

If you look behind his signature you can see the original stamping from Harley Davidson. in front of the signature is a very warped reflection of my bald and sunburned head and my little Panasonic.

Thanks! I took the cruise a few years ago, but not this time. Wish I did, but it was just a nice long drive on an extra day off work, so it was limited to a few shots, a hot dog cart dinner and some shopping. Great day though!

That is a very nice rhino for sure

Porto's central train station, São Bento, is (of course) fitted with tiles, not on the outside but on the inside.
Beautiful and stunning motives and a must-see, in my opinion.
I saw a top-ten of the most beautiful train stations in the world and São Bento was in it.

I like them Carl, nicely done. I especially like the first one.

Some more shots from São Bento.
From the tracks into the building, the middle door.

On the track-side they had this amazing model on display

My father and I went on a one-day river cruise. Starting with a 2 hour train ride from Porto to Regua, where we embarked a riverboat and sailed back downriver to Porto, an approximate of 5 hours sailing, with a 3-course lunch included :001_smile

The first three are from the riverside of Regua.

It is possible to take different river cruises that last from 6 to 8 days.
The first shot show how a river cruise boat looks like - tempting :001_smile

We didn't pass many bridges, much to my surprise, but we did pass a few

We passed a lot of beautiful villages, and here with a stone bridge which we passed with our train on the way to Regua

Excellent Gents :a14:

What we in Denmark call a "Craftsmans offer" :biggrin1:

I learned that the Douro river has 5 dams on the Portoguese side, we passed two on our cruise, and the first we came to actually has the world's biggest drop, about 35 metres ~ 115 feet.

We had to wait 5-10 minutes for a boat that was coming up in the locks to the left

The lock doors are of the guillotine kind - here coming up behind us

Same doors, but now at the bottom of the lock

Nice one - they look like they are having a good time :001_smile

The Douro river is not wide in all places

There were some rather pretty residens along the river - if only :biggrin1:

Out golfing today and it's very unusual to see a mushroom grow this big in northern Alberta Canada, nature is changing with the warmer wet weather. Mosquitoes are smaller and vicious and people have noticed a lot more wasps this year.
