Personna Super Platinum Chrome Suprise

I had quite the surprise today while I was unboxing my latest eBay delivery. I believe that I've read about some others finding Personna 74's inside of the Super Platinum packaging, well today I can join the ranks of witnessing it first hand. Inside of this package were five Personna 74 blades that were fused together as is typical with these blades. I can't help but wonder if all the Super Platinum blades really are 74's without the branding on them....guess that is a mystery for another day or time.

I won an auction several months ago of a box of samples about 300ea. of Personna 74 Tungstens, all individually wrapped. Also within the box and in the same wrapper were about two dozen Personna Platinum Chrome blades. Makes me think they were possibly the same. PPC shaved really well and lasted almost as long as the 74s. Both great DE vintage blades IMHO.

Congrats, some Super Platinum Chrome holders do have Personna 74 Tungsten Plus blades in them; the majority SPC cases have blades with just arrows or the name "Personna" written on them. The Personna Plus 74s were put in the SPC cases in order to get rid of them when Personna came out with the Super Platinum Chrome blades. It's a luck of the draw.

Was this auction on the bay? I didn't see it. I would have loved to have bid on it. Do you have any photos?

That they all weren't marked as 74s is new to me.
Among the many I have is a dispenser of 20 like yours and they were all marked.
As a matter of fact they're the only ones of the almost two hundred I have where the blades are marked so its possible if not likely all of the ones you have are the real deal.

No I won a local online Virginia auction. I subsequently sold them in packs of five on eBay. They were all sold within three weeks to buyers all over the world. They were indeed the real Personna 74 Tungsten. Saved about 20 of each for personal use. Should have saved more!

I have several of the original, introductory individual samples of Personna 74s that were inserted in newspapers at the time and the few I've opened are completely unmarked except for directional arrows. The same holds true with the original Personna 74s Tungstens in the square boxed hangcards and the next edition Tungsten Plus 74s.
There's an old thread that covers this completely and I'll post it when I find it.

That's a great score. Thanks for posting the photos.

Well, the pics aren't showing anymore but here's the old thread
