What's new

Penhaligons Store

Just been to the Edinburgh store to try some of the scents. What a pleasant experience. Its a beautiful little shop. I hadn't tried any of the scents before and the store manager was very helpful. Blenhein Bouquet is my favorite, I think I will pick up a bottle next time I'm there.
I was also hoping to pick up a tallow English Fern SS, but alas, none left. The guy said the new formulation is excellent and will have them in next week:confused:.
He also gave me a ton of sample to take away:biggrin:. He gave my girlfriend some samples too even though she wasn't inquiring about anything.
I'm so used to buying almost exclusively online nowadays it was a reminder that going to stores can be a much more satisfying experience. Especially when you get awesome samples:thumbup:

This is exactly right. It's a real pleasure being able to go into a B&M store, smelling all the scents and talking to someone who knows their products. I would love to find a Penhaligon's Store near me...

Your experience is one that all of us who are interested in fragrances would enjoy. All stores could learn from the Penhaligons store. There are two L'Occitane stores within 35 miles of my home in North East Texas and neither offers samples. I think I lucked out when the SA spayed one scent on my forearm. This is almost liking buying blind as one can not ascertain development, sillage or longevity from the test strips.

Surely this must be somewhat counterproductive. If I was not given samples to take away and test out in my own time I would be unlikely to drop £50 on a small bottle of cologne. As it stand next time I'm in Edinburgh(next week), I will be picking up a bottle of Opus. It wasn't till I tried a few of the different samples for a period of time I settled on Opus.
This kind of customer service gives a kind of personal attachment to a product, which could extend to all type of stores. Its like buying from a local butcher rather than a large supermarket, far more enjoyable.

That's a great idea. We really do need a Penhaligon's store here in East Texas!

For sure. Pen's absolutely hooked me with the generous set of samples it sent me. Without those samples, I do not think I would be bothering with seeking out a hyper expensive Brit scent house, but I seem to be now. C&S hooked me the same way.
