Pen recommendation

Evening guys and girls,

I wouldn't normally ask for pen recommendations, but I could use a little help on this one.
My brother gets married in April. He's in the unusual position in that he and his wife to be won't be setting up home together (long story). So that means that traditional wedding gifts are out - toasters, wine glasses, blenders and the like.
He's doing an English degree and I thought it might be nice to get them a pair of fountain pens.
The criteria I'm looking for is something traditional looking that won't break the bank. They won't form all of the gift, but I need to aim for something as cheaply as I can reasonably go. Not a great criteria for part of your brothers wedding gift I know, but times are hard. It'll also need to be presentable - a nice box would be a big bonus.
My initial search turned up these , with the added advantage that they could be engraved. However when I googled 'Franklin Covey', it would appear that they're some kind of consultancy training firm. I wouldn't want him to do a search and think I got them free on some seminar or something.

So do we have any idea's?
I'm not 100% settled on the engraving idea, but would be interested in your thoughts. If we find something really special, I can probably run to £40-45 ($60-70) for the pair.

Platinum Plaisir, Parker Jotter, or Sheaffer VFM. They're all functional, classy looking pens that aren't expensive. The Pilot Metropolitan (Called the MR in the UK) would be even better if you can stretch your budget to that (still under £40 per pair, nice packaging, wonderful writing pen, and you can get your brother and wife to be different colors... silver and black maybe). Sheaffer 100 and Faber Castell Basic are also good options.

See here.

Cult Pens is a dangerous website, especially with free UK shipping. It's worth keeping in mind, though, because sometimes they have pens that aren't available in the US or their prices may be better for certain EU-based pen makers.

Hehe, Cult is indeed out Goulet.....

Thanks for the recommendations - I'd clean overlooked sheaffer and there's 10% off as it's their 100th birthday this year.

Lamy also makes a nice range of pens with a large varientry of nib sizes including extra fine to OOB. The will not break the bank, are easy to find and virtually bulletproof. On the other hand, a nice set of vintage pens could be had from a variety of sources for $50-60 (US), sheaffers, parkers,conway-stewarts.
