Pelikan M205

I've been hoping Pelikan would make this pen for a long time. I've always wanted a black and silver one, but could never afford anything in the 400, 600 or 800 series. They now have released a limited edition M205. They are available at Richard's Pens, probably at other vendors as well.

I placed my order.

I'm a huge fan of Pelikans. I don't think you can go wrong with them, so buy what you can afford.

I have a few pens from the 200 series, and they're great pens. I just prefer a larger barrelled pen, and I like the way the gold nibs on the high-end ones feel (I think they're a little "softer").

They are expensive, though, and I worry about losing them. So I keep my Ductus at work, and my 600 at home. I keep disposable or very cheap fountain pens in my bag so I won't cry if I lose them.

I saw those M205s on the Richard Binder site - nice. I'm looking at the M215's as well. Choices, choices...

Heard good things about Binder. I like that they test drive every pen to ensure quality before it gets shipped.

I have a couple 200s and a 215. The 215 is my clear favourite ... take a close look at that one, Tim. It's black and silver, with dark blue, and has more heft than the 200, which gives it a solid feeling.

Cool. I recently lost my M400 which I had had for a very long time. Someone at work is likely enjoying it.... :cursing: Pelikan's are my favorite fountain pens.

You can't go wrong with a Souveran, my favorite is the M600 and I don't doubt that the M205 is just as good.

The 205 and 215 are a little small for my hands, but they are quite attractive. I'm rather fond of the 800 and the 1000.

Thanks Ian. This one just made its way to my list for Santa. Really a looker, and I like the idea of extra heft in a 200-series.

A Pelikan 120 (? this was back in the 1970s, and the pen didn't cost more than $15, and might have cost less than $10) was my first fountain pen. It was a terrific pen, and I wish I had it still.

Now I have a blue striped Souveran but don't remember know exactly what line it comes from. It's certainly not a 1000 or 800—it's not that big. It's very sensitive to the paper I write on. Rough paper will make writing a slow chore, smooth paper will let me fly.

Is anyone here familiar with the nib repair/regrinding service at that website (richardspens.com) or those offered at nibs.com? If so, you think they might help improve the peformance of my Pelikan?

can someone (who has an M205 in hand) take weight of the PELIKAN M205...capped and uncapped (if you have a small digital scale)

** edit, a quick google shows it's normal for FP weights to be given, looks like the M205 is quite a bit litter then I had hoped at 13g **

if you don't have a scale....sign up for my PIF and WIN one: PIF - Is that a scale in your pocket?

the only LE i have seen in the 205 (i haven't search much and only see it as LE on ebay) is a Taupe that is kind of drab looking for a FP.

I'm leaning towards the bright, shiny, red one....it's so bright and shiny.

Its a trap!

That gets me every time. I'm such a magpie when it comes to pens. Luckily, they're the only things that shine brightly to me. I feel fortunate to have avoided wrist and pocket watch AD. A friend tried to send me down that road once. I have an all titanium Seiko that my parents gave me. I hope it'll be the only dress/nice watch I ever wear. I love it.
