OEM grips are often just so “Plain Jane”; I believe a quality sidearm deserves better. Add to that equation the fact I prefer a smooth vs. checkered grip surface…gotta replace most of what shows up from the factory. What do you guys out there have on your ordnance?

No doubt you have great taste sir in firearms, wood grips and leather holsters. My goal is to definitely put several of my pistol’s into fine leather. There is also no doubt, you have had much influence in these goals of mine. :)

I also, have more of a utilitarian taste for some of my pistols. For example, while they are beautiful, I don’t know, if I would ever put an entire wooden grip on my Ruger SP101, because I actually prefer the rubber OEM grip it comes with.

The soft rubber with no finger grooves, cushions and softens those full power .357 Magnum loads. However, I definitely did take your advice years ago and the link you sent me to “Chig’s Grips”. And picked up some grip panels in Elderburl.

And while I think they are smashingly beautiful and will definitely have them installed into my rubber grip when I go to barbecue’s. :)

The utilitarian side of me, really likes the older, OEM chequered look of Ruger’s Dark Walnut panels with their Ruger emblem engraved into the sides.

Which by the way, are getting harder and more expensive to find. This makes them that much more desirable to have also.

I admit, my tastes of firearms aren’t very refined, but I think these checkered OEM grips of Springfield look awesome! I just don’t see the need of replacing them? :)
