What's new

Pay attention while driving.

Took my eyes off the road for a second, and slammed into a saturn.:mad:
Construction on the highway, so traffic was slow, but not slow enough to avoid just about killing my car.
Airbags did not deploy, and her car is fine.
My car on the other hand has lost it's power steering, the radiator is up against the engine, and has a nice hole in the top, hood is bent up about a foot, and there is oil and antifreeze over everything. :cursing::cursing::mad2::mad2::mad2::sod::sod::a31::a52:

Any one you can walk away from is a good one brother, remember it's only twisted metal. I forgot to ask were any razors injured in the crash? :001_smile

Glad to still have you here to report brother.

As long as you're alright, the sheet metal can always fixed.

Kudos for manning up and not saying "a crazed lady driving backwards on the highway slammed into me". Admitting an accident was your fault is one of the hardest things a guy can do.

+1 No kidding. Hardly happens anymore unless there are witnesses and you're pretty much forced into owning up.

And in case you get "admitter's remorse", you should know that the woman has retained the firm of Johnniegold, Suzuki, and Doc4 as her attorney, and your post will be entered into evidence.

I detest seeing drivers blabbing away on cell phones while driving. Even worse are folks who talk and smoke at the same time. Locally, they're all a-twitter about a law prohibiting texting while driving....something that seems almost impossible to enforce. To compound the idiocy, the law covers only those under 21. Somehow, I don't feel a bit safer!

I drive a lot for my job and see a lot of dangerous driving. I make the assumption that everyone around me doesn't know what they are doing. This keeps me more vigilant of my surroundings.

Went outside to take a look, praying that the damage from last night was less than I remembered.

Nope.:crying:

Having recently entered the world of professional driving, I am only amazed at how few accidents there are. I am also amazed at how many bad professional drivers that are on the road. They scare me when I see them barreling down on the rear bumper of a car.

Glad to see that the OP is not injured.

Good advice. Also, GET OFF YOUR CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING (not meant at you personally)! If it is so important that you need to risk peoples' lives, pull over.

I have been tempted so many times when I see someone on their phone whilst driving to swerve at them and remind them they should be looking out for danger not talking or worse still txting. Thus far I have restrained. :001_tt2:

One guy I knew purchased a cell phone blocker and would use it whenever he drove. I have even seen someone talking on the phone, eating, and reading all at the same time while driving.

No cellphone involved, just looked away for a second

Well good thing you were not hurt. Do you just have to cover the cost of your car (as the lady's car did not get damaged)? Some lady ran into my Honda a while ago. It made the loudest crash ever. Amazingly, there was no damage done and we went our separate ways. She was on the cell phone and even exited the car still talking on it. I asked her if she was on it while driving and she replied no
