Parker Variant adjustable razor help

Hi friends I have enjoyed shaving with the parker variant at different settings and I think its awesome. The reason for this post is past 3 shaves I have noticed when tightening down it doesn't close properly on setting 4 and its loose on setting 5 is there a way to fix or disassemble it? I like always am grateful to everyone's superior wisdom on this forum.

There is also a small gap between the dial knob and top peice where the indicator mark is

Sounds like you got the cap 180 degrees out; there is a reference point on one side that lines up base plate and cap. The gap you show is not material. Start with the cap fully locked down and near zero reference point and then release a notch or more to your desired setting.

Make sure you tighten the cap all the way down after changing blades, then back off the adjustment knob to the setting you want.

There will be play {a gap if you like} when it is backed off because the spring maintains the setting but when locked down there will be no backlash as the bottom knob is pulled tight to the cap..
