Palmolive Menthol vs. Proraso?

Marco

B&B's Man in Italy
Although the new Proraso formula is no longer that "icy" as the old one, Proraso wins hands down for me against Palmolive (any scent).

Sorry Marco, I'm in the the Palmolive menthol camp over Proraso. Though the champion of coldest is still QCS Vostok. YMMV.

Italian Palmolive in the tube has a bigger menthol punch than the new tubed Proraso for my face...both are excellent creams...Vi-John (INDIA) ,Ingrams (Egypt) and Everest (Russia) also contain a healthy dose of menthol in a reliable ,quality tubed cream.

I just used the new formula green proraso tubed cream today over proraso white pre-post for today's shave. That combination had plenty of cool tingly feeling.

I'm not sure about coldness, but I doubt Palmolive ( a dishwashing soap company) could allow as close comfortable (irritation free) shave as Proraso (Italian
barber products company) does.

YMMV, of course, but Palmolive is hardly a newcomer to shaving cream. They've made tubed creams in some form or another for decades now. The current European versions are highly-regarded around here as good creams.

Palmolive started in 1864. They didn't start making dishwashing soap until 1966, over a decade after they were founded.
Mennen made the shaving cream in 1912.
Mennen was bought in 1992 by Colgate/Palmolive

Proraso was founded in 1926, and came out with their shaving cream in 1948, 36 years after Mennen came out with the shaving cream that was later bought by Palmolive.

If you don't have enough experience to make a judgement, you should refrain from doing so.

Gentlemen, thanks for your input. I'll likely pick up a tube of Palmolive soon, Proraso is neither cold enough or slick enough for my taste.

Definitely get a tube of Palmolive, but don't give up on the Proraso just yet. It's good stuff.

i have the italian Palmolive .
It smells like a strong breath mint, i like it.
It is cooler than old Proraso cream, in my humble opinion

Ingrams in particular has a reputation for freezing any face. I haven't tried it personally but from what I have heard it is a great summer shave cream.

I like both creams for what they are.

The reformulated Proraso cream has a rather tame menthol blast and comes with a slightly medicinal, light and sophisticated scent. It's a good everyday cream - great performance, not too expensive.

In comparison, the Palmolive menthol cream is a beast. Big, fat menthol kick and a somewhat lemony, industrial and cheap scent - not bad at all, but it's not comparable to Proraso. Also the price is ridiculous, here in Europe you can get it for 99c.

I have, use and love both of them. If you're going straight for the menthol madness then give the Palmolive a try.
