PAL Stainless Injector problem

I recently picked up a PAL stainless injector off of a flea market site. I got it yesterday and upon examining it I found a potential problem. On the underside of the head there is a thin strip of metal that I believe should read "PATENT PENDING". However, mine reads "PA PENDING" because a nice chunk of this little bar is missing. Does this bar provide any function for the razor? It is a BA razor and I'd hate for it to be unusable. If anyone could chime in with their 2¢ I'd appreciate it. I have until Monday to decide if I'm keeping it or not.Thanks.

EDIT: Search is my friend. Found out this is how the razor was designed.

There appears to be a cutout in the metal btwn the PA and PENDING. Think you are OK.

The couple I've seen, including one nos with a blank blade still in place, all had that "gap" in what is in fact a spring to hold the blade.

So the 10 CVS stores in relative proximity to me do not carry the injector blades. Anybody know how hard it is to order from EMS? At $5 for 20 blades I might as well just order some.

I'll get some pics after I clean her up a little. She's got some gunk in her handle.

A few months ago, I ordered 200 blades from them. Less than $50 shipped, but it took almost two months to get them. About that time they said that they'd had a run on them, and the shipments from the manufacturer had been delayed. Not surprising, considering that ASR was in trouble around then.

You might do better on shipping time, but for one pack of 20, I'd check on how much they'll charge you for shipping.

I like the Chinese Schicks you can buy on Amazon for around $20 shipped for 28 blades.
