Ozuku Lv 5

I just receive shipment of my Ozuku Lv 5 from Japan. I ordered it last Saturday and it was here in less than a week. Wow!

I’m excited to get it lapped and see what her edges are like. I’ll start with 600 grit diamond plate slurry and see how that edge is. I have a Shobu Nagura coming to test on her too. Excited for this Finishing stone.

Have fun with your new stone. So many options when it comes to Jnats and slurry. I’m handicapped when it comes to slurry which is why I went back to Arkansas stones but you’ll probably get dialed into the process in no time.

Thank you. I have to get her flat first. I tried a 300 grit Diamond plate and it doesn’t want to get flat enough. I’ll have to get the 220 sic out.

I have a similar stone Ozuku but smaller. I find that it produces an HHT 5 edge. Good luck with your JNAT. I think 300 grit should do it. Thing is, no matter what you use, gonna take some time. Now that mine is flat, I just use a 1200 atoma when needed.

Ozukus are great stones. I bought and sold a handful of JNATs and kept an Ozuku and Shoubudani. I like a fine finisher in a JNAT rather than a fast one, though the fast ones can be quite nice too.
