Our 4th, 10-Week Bullseye Session Starts on 12/11/2022 - New Shooters Are Welcome!

New shooters are welcome. You can find all the information you need along with targets to get started via this link: Our 3rd, 10-Week Bullseye Session Starts on 8/29/2022 - https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/our-3rd-10-week-bullseye-session-starts-on-8-29-2022.628708/. Please don't post scores or questions in this thread.

Post your weekly score to this thread by Sunday afternoon. If you miss a week... Just shoot an extra set of targets the following week. You may post your score at any time. Week 1's scores will be posted on Sunday evening December 11, 2022.

Please read the attachments. Answers to most questions are answered there. Or, post your question in this forum. This is a .22 Bullseye League. Semi-autos and revolvers may be used. Targets must be shot in sequence, one after another, in one shooting session. Slow, Timed and Rapid... If you aren't happy with a target you may stop at that point and start over with the slow target.

"Can't Raise an Eyebrow"
I haven't practiced any bullseye shooting during our hiatus. It showed with my first four targets that I shot today. But then I pulled it all together and had a fairly good run.

261-5X
Slow 86
Timed 88-2X
Rapid 87-3X

Here's our first set of scores. The standard deviation will register a figure when the second set of scores has been added. (I don't feel like adding "if/then statements" into my formulas this evening.)

"Can't Raise an Eyebrow"
An observation and question for those with more experience with red dots and bullseye shooting. I know one can focus on either the red dot or the bullseye. After not shooting bullseye since our last session, my dot was more wobbly than when we were shooting regularly. This week, I seemed to do better with a hard focus on the bull instead of the dot. I think that when my dot is less wobbly, as it was in the previous session, I do better focusing on the dot. Does this make sense?

Nice thing about red dots is you may choose the dot or the target as your focus point. You shouldn't transfer back and forth during the shot.

The dot is far closer to your eye. That means movement is less apparent. I've tried both and settled on the target because that seems to result in higher scores. Others I shoot with say focusing on the dot is better for them. Over all, my local crew is close to 50/50 on this. Experimentation is fun!

I am the same as you John, my dot was really wobbly. I am not sure where I focused. I may shoot again tomorrow night and will focus on my focus. Or see what condition my condition is in.

Dirty Donuts are so Good.
When my dot is really wobbly because I’m really wobbly?

It’s the worst…. :)

Academy Sports called me and advised my Buckmark has returned. I will pick it up Wednesday and slap the red dot back on top. I can sight it in and see if they fixed the reliability troubles I get from fouling after only 100 rounds.

I will be traveling some for the Christmas and New Year holidays, but if all goes well, hopefully I can shoot several weeks at a time and catch up to the 4th 10 week competition and be back on track just after the new year.

Haven't received any scores for this week. Should we call a break for this week and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day? If so, that means our next set of scores would be due on Sunday, January 8th.

I forgot to post mine. They were so bad it probably slipped my mind. I am good with the break. I would not be able to post a score the week of Christmas anyway.

I‘d appreciate a break. Couldn’t get to my range with other stuff then caught one of the viruses going around (Probably doing that other stuff) 🤦🏻‍♂️

I shot yesterday. 251 with the pistol and 283 on Vegas targets at 20 yards with the bow. May the force be with you tomorrow...
Thanks. I have put an older red dot back on my .22. I think I have it zeroed pretty well. My Holosun is going on my Colt. I am going to mount it tonight and sight it in tomorrow.

Not sure when I'll submit my next score. About 10 days ago I took a hard fall on concrete and injured my right shoulder. I thought today was going to be OK for Bullseye shooting. I had done some two-handed shooting earlier in the week with my Glock 19 and while it was not precision shooting, it did not bother my shoulder much. But the Bullseye shooting stance is different and uses different shoulder muscles. The results were not pretty. I'll try again tomorrow before the predicted rain hits.

Sorry to hear about your fall and your shoulder. Shoulders are intricate and delicate. If it hurts... don't do it. You can always join me in the two-handed crew until the shoulder feels better.
