What's new

(Oud) Agarwood Oil

Once you start chasing Oud, you run into folks raving about some legendary classics, like 80-year old Kalakassi, an Indian (Hindi) oud and Thaqueel, a Cambodian oud, both of which were from a big house, Abdul Samad Al Qurashi (ASQ).

Connoiseurs complain that some of the new stuff from large companies like ASQ are reformulated.

That's why the artisan producers mentioned in this thread are terrific alternatives. Like:

- Al Shareef ll, a creamy Malaysian oud, reminds me of Kalakassi.
(I also have what I believe to be the pre-reformulated ASQ Kalakassi).
- Khmer Klem Chan. a sweet Cambodian from Agar Aura that some folks say is like Thaqeel.
- Kaosan, an oud from Thailand produced by Feel Oud, which has a different profile and notes than Cambo or Hindi ouds.
- Koh Kong from Ensar, which is an earthy Cambodian.
