Options for Canadians to order cigars online

I order tobacco online every so often but haven’t settled on a vendor yet. I am about to place another order, so I thought I would as the B&B wise before pulling the trigger. If you live in Canada, where are you finding your online cigars?

I often pick cigars up personally when travelling or ask a travelling friend to bring some back, I also love going to Sieverts which is a B&M store whenever I am in Halifax, but I am looking for an online vendor where I can buy a bundle or a few 5-packs without having to break the bank.

What I need is a vendor who’s website is actually navigable! I need them to ship to Canada and have USPS as an option. Have some good deals. And, not be located in Canada (because our laws are stupid and allow me to ship from the States but not Ontario!!!).

So far, SmokingPipes.com has been great because I also get pipe tobacco etc from them, but their cigar selection is limited.
AtlanticCigar.com is very nearly the perfect option. The catch is that their shipping charges seem high to me.

Any other ideas:idea:

Well for Canadian Vendors might I suggest Cigarchief.com or Cigarbellhop.com as they ship everywhere in Canada, they found some loophole.
For American site I like Atlantic Cigars and Cigarplace.biz.

Happy smoking!

P.S. Check out Canadiancigarforum.com a great community of tobacco users from up in the great white north, I'm there under the same handle.

We had a thread last month about this, but of course, we welcome another discussion about it! James (syngent) had some advice in it, I believe: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/353891-Expensive

Thanks, I try to keep an eye on the brown leaf, but didn't see that thread.

Good to know. Both CigarChief and Cigarbellhop have good prices for the selection they offer. But, I am stocked up on Cubans and already feel like I am not smoking enough of them. I need a vendor with more everyday smoke options.

I'll check out Cigarplace.biz

Thanks for the advice, I ended up putting in my first order with CigarPlace.biz. I am still a fan of SmokingPipes.com and AtlanticCigars.com, but it seems like CP might just have an edge on those two options for my current requirements.
I will check in with the thread again as soon as the packages arrive:thumbup:

Thought I would add an update to this thread for anyone interested.

Like I said before, I have plenty of Cubans, I just needed to make an order to fill my humidor and have some cheap sticks around.

Well, my order from CP.Biz came in and it certainly filled the humidor. In fact, I found myself with so many cigars that I had to put about 30 sticks into a make shift humidor as a temporary measure.

I am sure that SWMBO will eventually point out that this is not an ideal use of a large Tupperware meat-marinating dish, but for the moment it is doing a surprisingly good job of keeping the humidity constant - much more constant than either of my humidors!

Anyway, to the nuts and bolts. I ordered some cheap and some slightly less cheap cigars, but all in multiples. Shown in the picture are cigars from two bundles: La Finca - Fuma Larga (almost a Churchill size) and Cinsuergra #16 Maduro (6x48). In total, I got 63 sticks delivered for $115CAD. That includes delivery and taxes.

This place is great. I dealt with David. I didn't end up paying any taxes at the border. If anyone has any questions, please send a PM off to me and I can add in some details. I will say that the package was labeled by CP.Biz as containing tobacco products - which is always my preference. I don't want to add too many details to a thread because I am not sure how David would feel about it, but I will gladly respond to PMs. Again, I emphasize that I like getting cigars at a reasonable price, but that I do not and will not in any way encourage anyone to try shipping tobacco into Canada covertly.

Thanks for the great advice B&B!

Hey guys.

I think InspiringK had a good question. Its certainly the kind of question I have had too, yet got tarred and feathered for asking it on another forum! Some people freak out when someone new to the idea of online cigar ordering (like I was) asks such a simple thing. They act like people were discussing something illegal - which we were certainly not.

I'm very new to this forum and already have found it to be a pretty amazing place.

Thanks for having me.

Jack

As David's customer service supervisor, I'm more than happy to answer any questions you guys have about shipping to the GWN here at CigarPlace.biz

We have LOTS of customers, the vast majority actually that prefer to ship covertly rather than declaring their packages as cigars or tobacco product and I'll happily answer those questions too.

They don't have a tremendous non-cuban selection but cigarsofhabanos.com is pretty reasonable on their prices and they claim that they ship free worldwide (I can't get the country selection screen to work to confirm that they ship to Canada but "Worldwide" seems pretty promising).

I know this is an old post but just in case other fellow Canadians end up here while wondering around to find cheaper ways to smoke some good stogies.

If you live near border, (And if you do, we all love to go down the border every once in a while for some shopping, eh?) try looking for mail box services. There will be at least one in almost every border city in the states because a lot of us Canucks do this for other items as well. I found one just across the border on the West Coast (I live in GVA), they do package receiving and storage services where registration fee for a year is just $10 (Let's hope CAD goes up again!) and storage of our valuable items are just $2/wk (0 - 16lbs, you ain't gonna be ordering cigar package that weighs more than 16 pounds are you?) and apparently anything under 10 bucks you can pay by loonies and toonies. This is by far the cheapest way I found for folks living near the border. Yes, you do pay for a little gas but you sure go down the border once in a while. Shipping is like 1/3 the price this way, and folks at cigarplace.biz do $1 shipping for the first day of a month so definitely check them out! I can now smoke same great cigar at 1/3 the price! Really excited :D
