Opinions on cotton suits at work

I'm in the market for a new suit for work.

Until now I've only ever had wool suits, but the summer in Australia can get pretty hot (around 35 celcius or 95 Fahrenheit) so I'm considering a cotton suit.

Does anyone have any experience/opinions on cotton suits? Are they suitable for the workplace? Do they wear well?

I'd love a suit that is more suitable for summer, but do not want to look too relaxed.

Light weight wool is fine. It gets alot hotter than 35 degress but I wouldn't wear a cotton suit in a business environment. They remind me of the Miami Vice days I'm afraid.

I have a nice tan summer poplin suit that I bought from Brooks Brothers last year that's perfect for business.

I've worn an olive poplin suit that was perfect for the office and some appointments. I wouldn't wear one to court, but I see nothing worng with wearing a polin suit to the office. Those in the southern US may have similar comments about seersucker.

That's my main concern.

Guess I'll stick to wool for now and sweat it out...
