First day with a NEW LC and another great BBS. I bought this razor, a Red and Black, to clean up and resell, but after trying it, I think it's in the den. It is almost on par with my 'Crat, almost.

This thing was really a mess. I have gotten it most of the way there, but there is still some work to do on it.

Hi,

Looks good, and yes, it IS great to find friends that were lost!

Today is the last of OCtober, and finished out with the Fasan Double Slant. Picked up just in time to start OCtober, this is now my everyday razor. The thing just plain cuts it better. The 'differential aggressiveness' of this design is not as pronounced as the usual Solingen made slants that sport the feature, but it works *so* well. I can just use it and be done.

Still, there will be days to get out Grandpa's Old Type, or my New LC and recently rediscovered SC, but those shaves will need to be followed up with a second pass from my venerable Early Tech. This is actually good, because I have been shaving with that particular Tech from the beginning in 76. I might suffer withdrawal symptoms if I set it down to never be used again!

So, the month of OCtober has been a lot of fun, especially following everyone's reports every day. That is the part I am going to miss.

Shutterbug, many thanks for setting up this thread & maintaining the stats. It has been fun to participate & I have learned a few things along the way. I only skipped shaving on one day & stuck to using open combs, despite the temptation to use my new Ikon Slant, which arrived a week ago.

For my last shave I used my FaTip Piccolo that I used to such good effect yesterday. To be honest, the shave wasn't great, being not as close as yesterday & leaving my face feeling a bit tender. Maybe the new Astra I used was a dud, or I just had an off day.

Finished Open Comb October with my 1920 Gillette.

During this month I have a deeper appreciation for how well an open comb razor shaves. Both my 1905 and my 1920, are great razors.

A more conventional view of today's Halloween shave .. the SE is a J.A. Henkel's Rapide from sometime early last century (I used a modern GEM SS blade, not the wedge it came with in this picture), brought out some Mama Bear's Halloween Special soap from a couple years ago (still smells good & performs like always), and the B&B LE Brush just because it was orange (and I like it).

I've enjoyed the month too and finished with the OC that I have decided is the best fit for me: My Red & Black set Gillette New SC with a feather on its third and last day. I will now give some more attention to the 1946 or so Aristocrat Safety Bar that I cheated with for a couple days in OCtober.

Thanks for this exposure (Ha!) to Open Combs early in my Wet Shaving experience.

Conclusions for the month: I enjoyed and learned a lot about OC shaving in general. The month long focus really gave me time to focus on technique rather than switching razors 4-5 times each month. I learned that I really like the OC and am on a mission now. That said, I'm looking forward to November and using some other things.
