One-pass shavers?

I'm not ashamed to admit that my typical shave consists of one -- yes, you read that correctly, one -- pass, and one pass only. While I know that sounds like some sort of namby-pamby heresy to many, I'm sure there are others out here like me, and I'm wondering who you are.

From what I can see of your face from your avatar, I am suprised that one pass could do it. But, if it works for you , you should get about 12-16 days out of each blade and instead of an almond size dab of cream I would go with a pea size. Hah!:sneaky2:

I can get by with a one pass shave if I'm using a cartridge razor or a Bic TwinSelect. It's not going to be BBS, but I will be presentable.

If I'm using a DE, I have to make at least two passes.

Yes, I do just that rather often. I do a one pass XTG pass on my cheeks, and one pass WTG elsewhere. I get a fine shave, but obviously not close. For that kind of shave I'll make sure to use a rather aggressive razor like a slant, a Barbasol or a Darwin.

My entire repertoire before joining this site was one-pass ATG.

Since I now enjoy the process I find reasons to extend it. Always worth it to pamper yourself.

I tell myself that I will do a three pass shave every other day with a one pass in-between. Some days I actually do a one pass. (But when I have the cream in the dish and warm soap on my face and the feel of the razor on my skin... I...I...usually end up with three.... But I try! I really do!)

I can get away with two passes if I use a cartridge razor. One pass is out of the question, although I think if I used an M3 and did the first pass ATG it would probably suffice (but it would be painful).

One pass WTG with some touch-up, except for the mustache zone, where more work is required, including some XTG, unless everything goes perfectly......

Absolutely, a single pass is a fine thing when that's all that's required! BBS, although admirable in itself, is not always a prerequisite.

One pass when I started, and I believe it could be enough, but it's hard to resist this sweet lather...

If I use less then 3 passes, no matter what razor/blade combination, I look like a hobo & would have been better off not shaving.

Maybe I don't press down hard enough

I always do two shaving passes.
I lather and shave with the grain, then I re-lather and shave a second time against the grain.
Just because, as most wet shavers, I always want the closest shave possible.

My emergency shave consists of a single pass shave in the shower with my DE and canned gel. Takes about 2 minutes which means I can be showered, shaved and out the door ten minutes after waking up. No, it's not much fun and I generally will shave again later in the day, but it never ceases to amaze me how much stubble gets taken off with just that one pass. And I'm someone who has a heavy, dark growth which generally gets a 3 and a half pass daily shave.

There's no way I could have got as close and quick a shave with my Mach3.

I also do a single WTG pass (occasionally need some touch-ups), but be careful. I espoused my one-pass anti-BBS tendencies last week and I am convinced some members called Homeland Security.

Problem is, old habits die hard. Been doing one pass for so long, it will take time to become acquainted with a new routine. Although I really enjoy DE shaving, for me it almost seems strange to do more than one pass.

I do find myself looking for ways to extend my time shaving, but for now my routine is the same as it has been for the last 30 years...just one pass with the grain and touch up work against the grain.
