One pass challenge Redux

Preliminary information
I wish I was the first to think this up, but I'm not. Glen posted the challenge over at srp a while ago.

On to the challenge
The challenge is as follows. To do a single pass BBS. ATG, XTG, WTG, any direction is fine. But you have to do it in one pass. You all know what a pass is so I'm not going to define it.

What brought this crazy stupid idea into my head? Well, as Fnord knows, I've been trying out some new honing things. The results have been extremely impressive. Incredibly sharp and buttery smooth. After my third shave with the new razors, I started to wonder if it was possible to get BBS in one pass. So this morning, I tried it. I skipped WTG and went straight to ATG. I got BBS everywhere except that stupid 1/16" strip at the bottom of my chin where you have to keep changing the angle to get it perfect. So I was impressed and now I issue you all this challenge.

Is your razor sharp enough?
Is your technique good enough?
Are you confident enough?

Next shave ill bust out one of my freshly honed razors and go to town with one pass

funny, I just had a one-pass shave this morning with my tech and feather. Because I was in a hurry, on the way to work. It was an ok shave, nothing special. Got a bit of a shadow by 5PM, but you'd expect that.

My beard is to coarse, thick and crazy to achieve this. Even using the greatest prep before shaving, using one of my sharpest razor, be it the Filarmonica Especial Para Barbas Duras, my Dubl Duck or my ERN, some areas will not be BBS after the first pass. While my area above the chin line gets practically BBS on the first pass, the area below doesn't. This is because the hair on my neck grows upwards in a very very steep degree. It is impossible to go ATG without tugging. So, I must attack it from several angles.

Can you tell me more about this? What have you been doing to achieve this?

I can do it!
I can do it with a Zeepk!

We're allowed to mix Nair into our lather right?

But in all seriousness, I love reading tutorials :w00t:.

Me too! I think it's great when someone who has been gathering a lot of experience (must have with that generous honing offer) is willing to pass on what he has learned.

I'll be watching for some tips.

success!

i spent about twice the ammount of time with my face in hot towels to normal, and went kinda sything ATG. BBS everywhere except some tiny spots on my neck where its always a bit tricky.

I almost tried this morning with my Le Grelot.
But I enjoy my two pass shave too much to cut it down to just one.:001_rolle
I would consider it tomorrow, but as of 12 hours after my shave today, I am at the DFS level, and doubt it will be much to shave off tomorrow.

I took the challenge this morning, I decided to go not with the sharpest I felt I have, but with the smoothest.
Since I got it from Seraphim it has not seen other than the linen and the latigo with me, and after the one handed shaving thread it inspired me to try a truly one handed (no stretching but plenty of facial contorsions) shave and successfully completed a one pass WTG shave once before with it, no bbs by any means but it did leave me amazed even more at its properties.

So for today I did give it 5 passes with the old TM practice strop, using it for the first time loaded with TI paste, linen and plain latigo (wow, did it revive the edge).

About 95% bbs. I love Anastasia:
