Omega Syntex or boar?

I purchased this brush today at the drugstore for 14.99 assuming it was boar. It had an odour when I removed it from the case. The bristles were yellowish.

I tried looking for reviews on it but according to the omega website and model number the brush was synthetic.

But why was there an odour? And why were the bristles not white like other syntex models?

When viewing an older thread on this forum, I found this brush that looks identical to mine but the poster claims it is boar -

Is it an animalistic stench or plastic-like? It's probably boar. The Syntex is plain white. I show up lighter on camera as well.

It is boar. I have the same one. Smelled bad for the first few days, especially when wet.

In that case I doubt it's a boar. I sure don't smell like the boar brushes I've broken in. Good grief I hope not. I'm old too but that's what showers are for I'd think. No offense, I think it's kinda humorous! Ha!

After subsequent sniffing, I have found the scent to rather resemble musk and some sort of chemical, and apologize for any previous associations with the musk produced from some men through the process of aging. Judging by the beechwood handle I have traced the model to the brush on the website's "selected boar brushes" section.
