Omega Fan To Try a Thater?

I am a big fan of the Omega 31064. However, I have seen many posts praising the Thater brushes.

I would like to hear from any Omega 31064 fans (or Omega boar fans in general) who've tried an Thater. What do you think?

+ 1....Really don't hear too much about thater on this forum...I would like to know more about thater also...are they worth the premium price ? are they really that expensive in germany ,or just when they get overseas ?

I too am very curious about the Thaters. They have an excellent reputation. There were some rumors that they were actually manufactured by Shavemac. Then contrary rumors that this was categorically false, they are an independent house with a strong tradition. It would be very helpful to get all of this clarified and to hear what others think about these brushes. Pics are always essential.

Bonjour à tous

I have both a HL Thater 21mm silvertip qnd a Shavemac 23mm Silvertip. As far I have noticed the knot's conception is very similar. Same shape, same density, very easy to lather with...My thater was my second brush, the Shavemac my 5th. They really seems like false "hair twins" ; if you like shavemac, you'll like Thater.

What 21 mm Thaeter did you get?? And where did you buy it? I am right now searching for one myself, I am looking at the 4125/00.

I've had a Thäter 4292 in 23mm for about a month now. Incredibly soft tips and very soft on the face without losing all of its backbone. It doesn't have the backbone of an overstuffed and definitely isn't a scrubby.

Nice heft to the handle and good over all balance. It does slightly better with creams (Ive used The Bomb, Musgo Real, CF, and TOBS so far), but it also did a fantastic job of face lathering some Tabac and MWF.

Lynn and Don over at straightrazordesigns.com got in a shipment about two months ago and they sold off the best ones pretty damn fast. Nobody else I'm aware of carries them in the US.

EDIT: I see they got a few more in!

I saw them over there, but I am looking for the 4125/00, which supposedly has a loft of 48/49 mm. Maybe in two weeks in Germany....

We carry Thäter brushes too. Thäter definitely manufactures their knots by themselves. Also most of the handles are made by them, although some handles are made by other companies, but guaranteed in Germany.
Thäter exists for nearly 100 years, but is still a very small company. The better brushes are still made by hand, I saw it.
Also they are one of the very few using for their top lines not China Badger, like everybody else. Only Pils, Thäter, and Plisson use European badger for some of their brushes, as far as I know.
In Germany is still this kind of culture, which makes it possible for small firms with two or three employees to exist, just making excellent products. Just name Wacker, Pils, Calina etc.

I think I have some photos of the Thäter “company”, which I post after finding them.
