Omega 31604 V 81052

Hello all. I'm looking at buying one of these brushes. Which do you recommend? The 31064 is about $10 more but they seem almost identical?
I'll be using it equally with soaps and creams.

Thanks

I thought they were different sizes, are they not?

I have the 81052 and I really like it. Works great on soaps. The tips were a lot softer than I was expecting when I got it and have just gotten better since. It was only $17 shipped.

Actually i think they are different. Do you use yours with creams?

Only a few times with creams, mostly I use it with soaps. I have an Edwin Jagger Pure and the Shea Moisture Shave brush from Target that I usually use for my creams. It did ok the couple of times I used it on creams. I've been happy with it since I got it.

Do you face lather or bowl lather? I am strictly a bowl latherer at this point. I'm not sure how either would do with face lathering, I think most people prefer smaller brushes for face lathering.

I use the 31064 for both soaps and creams, face lather only. Does me good. The 81052 is on my want list though. I think it's a neat looking brush, but can't speak to how it feels! It's a bit shorter loft. Westcoastshaving has pretty good descriptions as I'm sure others do too! Enjoy!

Does the 81052 have the same type of acrylic handle, or is it lightweight plastic? It looks like the latter. Still, same type of hair as the 31064 I think (the 8 indicates it comes with a stand, methinks).

I don't have both to compare, but the 81052 handle feels like cheap plastic. It looks great though. It did come with a small plastic stand.

I agree, the 81052 handle looks better than it feels.
But all in all it is good brush for the money.
I mostly use it for bowl lathering soaps or creams.
When not in use it looks pretty fancy sitting there on the shelf.

Agreed, for anybody looking for an entry level boar I think it's a great place to start. I've been very happy with mine.

Perfect. In that case, I recommend the 31064 - never liked Omega's included stands or cheapo plastic handles. The 31064 will seem like a much nicer brush, and should you wear out that knot, the handle will remain useful for a re-knot.

Might make a difference whether you prefer a shorter loft, or whether you want as much hair?

31064 is 25 knot x 59 loft
81052 is 23 knot x 54 loft

I got the latter because I preferred a smaller knot (to dry out faster) and shorter loft. Yes, the 81052 handle is made of two pieces of plastic, but IMO they're well molded and don't really seem "cheap" - although not as nice as cast acrylic. The edges of the base were a bit sharp and I fixed that in a minute with a very fine file.

I agree, you don't need the included stand - it's functional but I've concluded it does more harm than good!

+1 on the edges being a little sharp on the 81052
