Omega 11047 Mixed Midget Brush is too prickly

The little brush looks good but even after some ten shaves it is still unpleasantly prickly. Because all boar bristles already split, I believe what looks like clipped badger that makes it so prickly. Will it ever get better? I wish Omega sold pure boar knot with the same handle.

Not really. It's kind of a prickly brush. I like that trait of it. If you don't it's probably not ever going to be a brush you care for.

Mine softened some, but not appreciably. Get an Omega 40033, a much better boar knot but a cheap plastic handle. I extracted the knot and re-handled it. I like Omega boar knots but hate their cheap handles. When they make a nice acrylic handle they dye the darn boar knot. Can't win.

1. Use hot water to soak brush and face lather immediately while it's hot
2. Use more cream. The thick lather seems to lessen the feel of prickliness on face.

I suspect the B&B essential boar is a custom upgraded version of the 40033 (as I have both).

Yes. The Omega Mighty Midget is all boar and lives up to it's name. Awesome little brush.

I'll try that. Thanks. I'll be using this brush occasionally, just like many other brushes which are not the first choice for me.

I should say that this little thing is a true lather generator in a bowl! I am wondering if it is because of badger added to boar? This is my only badger brush (partially).

Stuff another knot in it, I got this badger reknotted one off the B/S/T and am quite happy with it.

Worth a bump, as part of my current small-brush kick.

I got the Mixed Midget at Pasteur's a while back. The handle says Tasso & Setola; it pleases me that the badger-boar mix is billed properly.

I never found mine to be prickly, and it's a good little performer. I've only ever used it for face-lathering.

At some point after I end restraint, I am interesting in getting the Wide Waist Midget (40033), which does sound like a little star.
