Finally back to DE

Just posting pic of my old wet shave system versus new wet shave system

Old Set Up:

Gillette Atra Twin Blade Safety Razor
Drugstore cheap brush must be at least 25 plus years old
Williams soap puck used in past used used old Packard car mug but went to
Nivea shaving gel would squirt in brush and face lather
Follow up with Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm

Very similar to mine.
What blades have you tried with your de89 razor? So far I didn't like the derby blades in my de89l, I prefer the Astra platinum.

My DE89 didn't like the Derby's either. I tried feather, merkur, derby and shark super chrome. The sharks are what I'm using now and love em. I want to try some others.

I used one Deby blade and have been using Astra blades since.
Plan on trying different brands

There are many good blades out there. I find Derbys are an all around good, reliable blade

I've tried Feather (my blade of choice in all my razors). Second choice is Astra. Then a tie between Derby and the new Personna (25% sharper). IMHO, they are all quality blades. I get a BBS shave with all of these. The only blade I did not care for was the Merkur. I now have another Merkur blade to try. I like your new setup.

Why a mug with the Proraso? Why not lather in the soap container?

I load brush with Proraso or ToBS and use the bowl to whip up the lather before applying

Love your new set up. There;s nothing wrong with your Nivea Post Shave Balm. I'd keep that around just to change things up a bit. I've never tried the Williams. Some people really like it. I remember my dad used to shave with it.
