Old Spice sold on Classic Shaving

Sorry if this has been asked before, but my search yielded few results. Is this the India Shulton version and not the P&G? The bottle they show on there looks much different than what I see in drugstores.

Seems very likely. I am attaching pictures of a 50ML glass bottle I bought here in India for a travel. They are available in every shop here for around 2 dollars. The lime, musk and original suggests this is Indian

I have been wondering about this myself. I used to love old spice before p&g made it powdery. Just wish they still made the tallow soap.

The Indian lime is pretty short lived compared to the original. It also smells kind of weird, as it uses synthetic substitutes for the original's real lime extracts. It's not bad, it's just not real Old Spice to me.

The Indian Old Spice shave cream smells exactly like my grandfather's bottle of Old Spice from the 80's that I used to use. Definitely "spicier" than the P&G.

Are these bottles plastic or glass? I just ordered some of the Musk. I absolutely love the drydown scent of it.

Clubman Robb, what was it that actually made the Shulton Old Spice more potent? (staying power) Was it more essential oils or something else? That's what I love about the Shulton version......strong, lasts for days if one was not to wash it off. And the sacharin you've mentioned before that's not in the P&G version.....is that the same thing as the sugar substitute sacharin?

It was a different type of EO for the most part. The substitution for synthesized EO's in place of the natural spices and extracts used in the original left the potency somewhat lacking.

An argument that has some merit to it would have it that there is no difference in potency or longevity between synthetic and organic EO's (synthetic and organic being used in a broad sense) and while that's true to some degree, all one has to do is pick up a bottle of OS purchased twenty five years ago and compare it to the bottle purchased today to discredit that theory.

And yes, same saccharin in your coffee is the same saccharine in old Old Spice. (That's going to be my new abbreviation- OOS. Compared to P&G OS.)

The Shulton India OS is in a glass bottle.

As far as the longevity of the scent, it lasts about 30 min to an hour. After that, it reduces to a powdery scent that annoys me.

I am definitely looking forward to trying some bay rum and other various AS/ASB.

Anyone have luck on contacting P&G about bringing back the original formula?

My 50's vintage AS and Talc arrived. The AS has a "deeper" spice scent than the 90's stuff, and is slighty different, but very much like the generic AS at the dollar store...I'd described the dollar store version as having a slightly sour note from the bottle that isn't in the vintage, but it isn't really an unpleasant sourness.

I have never tried the current AS, being so pleased with the dollar store version, but I do like the current cologne, even with the powdery notes. I'm stoked to try some vintage cologne, except that if I like it, then I'm screwed insofar as finding a steady supply of the stuff.

I wonder if the current AS could be "distilled" down to a cologne?
