Old Gillette Platinums

Had not seen that packaging before, only the silver dispenser. Will agree that they shave great, tho I would not refer to them as Swedes, as they shave better than Swedes.

I just got 60 of these and am probably on my fourth shave with the first blade. My initial impression is that I like the US Platinum's and Swedes better but I'll need a little more time to say for sure. They are a super good blade though. Very sharp and just a little lacking in smoothness for me so far but that might change as I get through a few more. One thing I did notice is that the finish on these blade is second to none! There's not much talk of these English Platinum's on the forums. Anyone have info on production dates?

Hiya,

I apologize if this post derails the thread a bit, but this seems like a good place to ask a question. I bought some NOS blades a while ago, and can't find any info on these.

They came individually wrapped in white paper, in a small white box that originally held 100 blades(63 were remaining). The box says "Blades are made in England......packaged in the USA".

The blade has "Super+ Chromium" printed on both sides, with one of those Gillette arrow logos on both sides as well. The weird thing is that the blades have letters on them. The top letter is a 'v' and the bottom one's a 'k'.

I can't for the life of me find any info on these exact blades......even went to Achim's site with no luck. None of his blades match this one I have. Sigh, pics would make this easier, but I can't provide any.

Anyway, I've used a few and they're pretty nice. Not as sharp as the Iridium or SharpEdge, but still right up there. It's also a very smooth and forgiving blade. Heh, I just wish I knew what I was shaving with.

So that's the deal........any thoughts would be helpful. Once again, I hope this isn't too off topic.
