As a relative newbie (less than a year into DE wetshaving), I've always taken rave reviews of different shave items with a grain of salt (razors most of all). After all, YMMV, right?
However, like most of us newly converted and all of us in search of that elusive 'perfect shave', I fight AD - creams, brushes. and especially RAD. I had decided long ago that I wanted to possess the trifecta of Slim, Fatboy & Super adjustables and I especially coveted a Fatboy due to it's iconic nature. When I was lucky enough to pick up a Fatboy for a relative bargain price through the WTB/WTS board, I was pleased, but not overwhelmed - simply another razor, right?
This afternoon, I took it for a test drive - I always save new razors for weekend shaves first, so in case of disaster I can heal by Monday
For me, this 50+ year old razor is absolutely stunning. It just feels RIGHT in my hand and on my face. The domed head (for me) lends itself to a near perfect blade angle. This is one case where IMHO the reputation is justly deserved.
Fatboy, I am sorry to have ever doubted you - mea culpa.
