Oiling for storage, yay, nay?

So...after pulling my spare gillettes out of their hiding place I was horrified at the condition they were in (not that bad really but still). Ok, so they didn't get a full clean before they were put away, my bad, but my thought process now is that after I finish cleaning them I should give them a quick oil before they go back into storage. Having said that I agree with the people who point out that most of these razors have never been oiled it's probably not a good idea to start now.

anyhoo, I've given them a good clean and I've got them in the oven (100C for a few hours) to dry properly, then what?

A lot is going to depend on the storage environment. In a basement? Bathroom? Bedroom?

My suggestion is to make sure they are completely dry then stick them in a Ziploc bag with some fresh silica gel, squeeze the air out and zip them up.

I hope there are no plastic handles on those razors at 212F. Like turtle, I would also stay away from oil before storage.

i have never had any issues with storage. A good clean, dry and store them in the open air and they look fine.
i would also stay away form oiling as Gillette did not recommend this. Good luck.

@celestino,
to be honest I'm not sure if I cleaned them before storage as I was moving at the time.

@turtle,
yeah, that seems to be the go.

Thanks for your replies gents.
