Oil for straight razor

I have a Ralf Aust 6/8” natural horn arriving soon and I am already thinking how to keep it in pristine condition.

I understand that it should be lightly oiled if not used for 3 or more days… is 3-in-1 multi-purpose oil OK?

Ballistol ( mineral oil) and vci paper.

smart thinking it is humid where I live, and Recently started using above system

micro corrosion leads to micro-pitting

I also like to use ballistol on my arks, ballistol water dawn mix. it is also a good fire arms lubrication.

Sounds silly but i use automotive detail spray, it’s basically wax and spritz and wipe clean after use and before stropping on linen and zero issues.

Another Ballistol vote here. Good lubricant and rust inhibitor. Doesnt get "gummy" over time.

Another vote for Ballistol as well. I use a straight every two weeks (I have two) and dry, strop and oil after use.

I have a new Ralf Aust and a restored Mappin and Webb that I recently purchased. Oils I have in the house are Mineral, Castor, 3-in-1, and extra virgin olive. So, I saw mineral oil mentioned above. Will 3-in-1 also work?

It probably will. The reason I like mineral oil is that mine is in a sponge applicator bottle. It goes on quickly and without a mess.
