Oil and Brushes

I know this question is asked a lot, but thought I'd ask again.

I've found that I pretty much need pre-shave oil to prevent two areas on my face from becoming irritated because they are so dry. I don't even shave the areas, but it's impossible to not get soap on them. Anyway, I exclusively use soaps and face lather.

I have a Shavemac 23mm in Finest, and I wanted to know how much damage the pre-shave oil can do to the brush, especially because I face lather with soaps. I've been using AoS Pre-Shave oil, but I just tried T&H today and loved it.

You have oils in your skin. The creams and soaps have some sort of oils in them.

I use the AOS pre shave oil all the time. I'm not sure I have to but it does a great job for me. I have never had any problem with my brushes. Once every couple of weeks or when the soap film builds up I wash it with Dawn dish soap. After the wash it is good to go!

Good to know. I also like to see someone who uses pre-shave oil all the time who has been a member for a while too. Not everyone hates pre-shave oil.
